Hexagonal Gabion Wire Netting

Gabion wire netting is a special type of mesh that is used in gabion retaining walls to stabilize the soil slope in geotechnical engineering.hexagonal gabion wire netting Several tensile tests and numerical simulation were carried out to investigate the tensile behavior of gabion wire mesh. The influence of the wire diameter, mesh width and mesh length on the tensile strength was evaluated. A number of analytical models were proposed to fit the experimental data. The tensile stress distribution of the wire mesh was also analyzed. The results showed that the tensile stress was concentrated on the twisted wires in the gabion wire mesh.

Hexagonal gabion wire netting can be deep processed into gabion nets for hillside treatment, zoo fences, mechanical equipment protection, highway guardrails, stadium fences and road green belt guardrails. It is made of flexible hot-dipped galvanized steel wires with a hexagonal shape. These nettings are widely used in construction and building materials.

The standard size of the hexagonal gabion is 1m x 1m x 0.5m. However, they can be produced as per customer's requirement. The length, width and height of the gabion can be adjusted as required. However, the fabricated gabion shall not differ more than 5% from the ordered size prior to filling.

These hexagonal gabions are filled with stones on site to form malleable, permeable, monolithic structures for a wide range of civil engineering projects. Gabions can be erected along river banks and ridges to control erosion, stabilize the bank, or to protect against floods. They are also widely used in road construction, railway projects and other large civil engineering projects. They can also be used in the construction of dams and bridges to regulate water flow or for marine structures.

There are two ways of protecting the steel wires from corrosion risks: one way is to use highly corrosion resistant materials and another is to apply a coating. The coating can be plastic, zinc or iron. For ultimate corrosion control, the steel wires can be coated with galvanisation and a PVC layer for superior durability.

During the construction process, it is important to follow the manufacturers instructions & the engineer's approval. Each gabion should be properly assembled, filled and laced to ensure the correct sizing & stability of the structure. The laced gabions are then packed and stacked together in order to form the final gabion. Once they have been stacked, the internal diaphragms should be closed and secured. After the gabions are complete, they should be inspected to make sure that they are in good condition and are ready for use.
